Wilnelia Merced-Forsyth became first winner from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico won the title of Miss World 1974 contest that was held on 20th November, 1975 in London at Royal Albert Hall. It was the 25th Miss World Pageant contest.
Wilnelia Merced-Forsyth was born on 12th October 1959, Caguas, Puerto Rico. She faced a problematic year because of the controversy related previous year Miss World and she was exchanged by the runner-up as to restore the image of contestant was essential thing for new winner.
During her domination Wilnelia traveled broadly and her country’s government invited her to pre-civil war EI Salvador. She made her home to England as she fell in love with England and decided to settle there.

Wilnelia Merced- Forsyth has been running her own a foundation to facilitate Puerto Rico's under-privileged children and for that she arranges charity balls.
Merced lives with her complete family including husband and son Jonathan Joseph on the Wentworth Estate in Surrey, England.
