Miss Vietnam’s sexy photo auctioned for charity

The first sexy photo, in a series of 100 nude photos of Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy, which were taken by photographer Tran Huy Hoan, will be auctioned for charity today.

The auction will start at 6.30pm on December 12, at the HCM City Exhibition Centre, 92 Le Thanh Tong, District, HCM City.

The photo, titled “Like flying heron,” features Mai Phuong Thuy standing beside a statue of a crane. The photo’s theme is based on a song of the same name by late musician Trinh Cong Son, in which a young girl is quietly wishing for a peaceful and prosperous Vietnam.

This photo (100x137cm) is one of 100 nude photos of Mai Phuong Thuy, taken by Tran Huy Hoan, in a studio and outdoors, from November 2007. It will be auctioned to raise fund for the Operation Smile Foundation to bring smiles to children who were born with cleft palates.

Lam Thuy Nguyen is the Miss Universe 2008 candidate from Vietnam. Lam grew up in the northern province of Thai Binh, and is the first Vietnamese representative in the Miss Universe pageant.

Lam Thuy Nguyen is a professional singer and actress. She has just finished her second year at the Culture and Performing Arts school in Ho Chi Minh. The Miss Vietnam winner has cut her own CD titled Thuy Lam.

 

She has also acted in three Vietnamese films. Lam Thuy Nguyen says that she apart from a singer and actress, she would like to be a businesswomen in the music production business. Lam says that through her participation in the Miss Universe contest she would like to bring Vietnam to the world stage and showcase its culture and heritage.

 

Lam Thuy Nguyen has lived in Germany and can speak both English and German.

Lam THuy Nguyen won the Miss Universe Vietnam pageant held in Nha Trang City in the Khanh Hoa, 1in 2008. At the contest, she also won the Miss Talent, Most Lovely candidate, and an award for the best answers given to questions placed to contestants.

The crown bestowed on her costed $5000. Lam also won $12,000 and VND210 million as prize money.

The first runner-up of the Miss Vietnam pageant was Vo Hoang Yen and the second runner up was Duong Truong Thien Ly from HCM city. Yen won VND 180 million and the Miss Photo title, while Ly won VND 125 million.

Thien Ly, who won a prize worth VND125mil, also won the Miss Photo title. Both Vo Hoang Yen and Duong Truong Thien Ly are from HCM City. Tran Diem Trinh and Duong Diem Trinh won the Miss Sea Tourism and Miss Friendly titles, respectively.

Ngoc Diem and Hoang Yen nominated for Miss Universe

Vietnam’s representative at Miss Universe 2009 pageant will be one of two nominees: The first runner-up of Miss Universe Vietnam 2008 Vo Hoang Yen or Miss Tourism 2008 Phan Thi Ngoc Diem.

After Elite Vietnam announced it would not renew the right to choose the Vietnamese candidate for this pageant, the Vietnam Universe Company assumed the right. The firm asked the PL Modeling Company to introduce some nominees for the pageant.

The Director of PL Modeling, Tran Thanh Long, said: “We recommended Vo Hoang Yen and Phan Thi Ngoc Diem. Hoang Yen has the nice body of a model. She was also the first runner-up of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2008. Ngoc Diem is Miss Tourism 2008, a university student with good knowledge.”

The Vice Director in charge of marketing of the Vietnam Universe Company, Le Diem Ly, said that firm will choose one candidate for the Performance Art Agency to consider and approve. It will send the file of this contestant to the organising board of Miss Universe 2009 in May.

Ly said the Miss Universe organising board requires that contestants be in the top three of national beauty contests. Vietnam has to select a beauty queen of last year because this year Vietnam will not organise any beauty contest for young girls.

Hoang Yen and Ngoc Diem were surprised by the selection.

“I’m very happy and proud to be trusted. With my experience at the Miss Tourism International 2008, if I’m chosen, I’ll try my best,” Ngoc Diem said.

“I’m really surprised and very happy. Of course, I will be ready for the contest,” said Hoang Yen.

Ngoc Diem, a last-year student at the HCM City Foreign Trade University, was crowned Miss Vietnam Tourism last August. She represented Vietnam at the Miss Tourism International 2008 in Malaysia in December 2008.

Hoang Yen was the first runner-up of the Miss Universe Vietnam and a supermodel.

Miss Universe 2009 will take place in the Bahamas this August.

Beauty pageant experts are saying that Võ Hoàng Yến is the strongest candidate from Asia at this year´s Miss Universe 2009 with 90 candidates all around the world. Many already see her as the winner.

Võ Hoàng Yến is the favourite candidate for the crown for Inés Ligron, the national director of Miss Universe Japan who is the most successful national director for Miss Universe. She was behind Riyo Mori, Miss Universe 2007.
